As A Lawyer

Rooted in justiceGuided by empathy

My Legal Philosophy

Law is more than rules written on a page — it is a living promise of fairness, dignity, and accountability. Throughout my legal career, I have been guided by a commitment to equity and the belief that the law should protect, not intimidate. I see the law as a human-centered framework, designed to uplift communities and safeguard their voices, especially those too often silenced.

As a lawyer, educator, and former associate dean, I have witnessed how legal systems can both empower and oppress, and I believe it is our responsibility to question, challenge, and reform those systems when they fall short. Justice cannot be a privilege for the few; it must remain a fundamental right for all.

My approach is rooted in compassion, critical thinking, and courage — values I believe every advocate should carry. I strive to engage with complex legal questions not only with a sharp mind but also with a deep sense of empathy.

Justice, With Humanity at Its Core

Asmara brings not only years of legal training, but a profound respect for the human experience to every issue she examines. As a lawyer and legal scholar, she is committed to fairness, clarity, and the honest pursuit of equity — values that transcend any single case or headline.

With a career that includes serving as an associate dean of a law school and authoring legal scholarship, Asmara approaches the law with a rare blend of rigor and empathy. Her lived experience informs her perspective, reminding her that justice should serve people, not distance them.

Through writing, speaking, and teaching, she works to illuminate how law can evolve to honor dignity, humanity, and a more inclusive society.

As Yogi

Stillness Between Stories

Yoga grounds me. It’s the pause between the chapters, the inhale before the words come. As a lifelong student of presence and healing, I bring that same mindfulness into my storytelling. The practice of yoga reminds me to listen — to my body, to silence, and to intuition. It allows me to process emotion, release judgment, and return to myself. Whether through movement or stillness, breath or reflection, yoga deepens my capacity to tell stories with empathy, spaciousness, and truth.
